How does the Paste Text tool work?

Type or paste any text into the editor above, choose an expiration time, and click "Create Share Link." You will get a short URL like lunaconvert.com/tools/paste-text/K8mFx3q that anyone can open to view your text. The text is stored securely and automatically deleted when it expires.

Is my text private and secure?

Anyone with the link can view your text. However, the link is extremely difficult to guess — there are 1.5 trillion possible ID combinations. For sensitive content, use the password protection feature which encrypts your text with AES-256-GCM before it leaves your browser. The server never sees your password or unencrypted text.

How long does shared text last?

You choose the expiration: 10 minutes, 1 hour, 24 hours, 7 days (default), or 30 days. After expiration, the text is permanently deleted from our servers within one hour by automated cleanup.

Is there a limit on text length?

Maximum 500,000 characters per paste (about 100 pages of text or 80,000 words). For longer documents, consider splitting into multiple pastes.

Does the tool support code syntax highlighting?

Yes! The tool automatically detects programming languages (Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, Go, Rust, Java, SQL, JSON, HTML, CSS, and 20+ more) and applies syntax highlighting when the text is viewed. Just paste your code and the highlighting is applied automatically.

Can I delete my shared text early?

If you create the text while logged into your LunaConvert account, you can delete it anytime from your "My Links" list. Anonymous pastes cannot be deleted early — they remain available until their expiration time.

We take security seriously. Here is how we protect your text

Client-Side Encryption

Password-protected text is encrypted with AES-256-GCM in your browser using the Web Crypto API. The encryption key is derived from your password using PBKDF2 with 100,000 iterations. Neither the password nor the plaintext ever reaches our servers.

Auto-Expiration

Every paste has a mandatory expiration date that you control. Once expired, text is permanently deleted within one hour by automated cleanup. No retention, no backups of user content.

No Tracking

We do not scan, analyze, or share your text content. View counters are anonymous. IP addresses are hashed before storage. Your data is your data.

HTTPS Only

All communication between your browser and our servers uses TLS 1.3 encryption. Data in transit is always protected against interception.
